Roger Leyniers

It is our sad duty to report the death of Professor Roger Leyniers at Jette-Brussels on 23^rd September 2000 at the age of 74. Professor Leyniers was the 1^st Belgian Councillor to IUVSTA from 1971-1974. He was born in Ixelles, Belgium on 29^th June 1926, graduated as a Master in Mathematics from the Université Libre de Bruxelles, and became an honorary member of BELVAC. He led a group working on vacuum techniques at the Neclear Research Centre of the Ecole Royale Militaire, and contributed to the organisation of the International Vacuum Meeting in Namur in 1958, and to subsequent meetings of the IOVST and IUVSTA.
